Alfalfa is a legume hay and is also known as lucerne. It is recognized as the premier forage, due to its higher relative feed value. Alfalfa has high levels of crude protein and particularly high levels of energy. It is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, making it an ideal feed for dairy cattle and horses.
