Petroleum Coke / Calcined Petroleum Coke

Petroleum coke, also known as Pet Coke is a carbonaceous solid derived from oil refinery coker units or other cracking processes, where as non-petroleum based cokes are produced from coal. There are fours types of Petroleum Cokes:

 Needle Coke
 Honeycomb Coke
 Sponge Coke
 Shot Coke.

Fuel Grade Coke is classified as either sponge coke or shot coke morphology, with its major application for use as fuel for power generation in coal fired boilers.

Calcined petroleum coke (CPC)

Calcined petroleum coke (CPC) is manufactured by heating green coke to approximately 1300-1400 C in a rotary kiln. This affects the removal of virtually all residual hydrocarbons and moisture. The final calcined product contains only a trace of volatile matter, and 0.3-6% sulfur, depending on the petroleum base used to make the coke.

Petroleum coke and calcined petroleum coke are used within products such as foundry materials, rubber compounds, reducing reagents, manufactured carbon shapes, alloys, cathodic backfill, drilling additives, case hardening, seals & mechanical carbons.

Packing & Shipping

Petroleum coke & calcined petroleum coke are often shipped in a bulk carrier, vessel size ranging from 10,000mts to 60,000mts. Petroleum coke and calcined petroleum coke are also often shipped in 20-foot or 40-foot containers, in jumbo bags or 25 KG bags.
